Uv Gel Nails Are Easy

February 1st, 2010

With all of Europe demanding natural looking nail beauty combined with low maintenance and greater nail strength, I think its time you learned a little bit about how fun and easy uv gel nails can be.  :)

Uv Gel Nails = Variety

With uv gel nails, you have the option of using nail tips, nail forms, full nail overlays, gel repairs, and nail fills.  What this means is that if you have done any form of artificial nails before than you are probably already familiar with the basics of applying gel nails in one form or another.

If you haven’t worked with tips, or nail forms before, then you can start with the basics and go straight for a gel nail overlay.  This technique is just like applying nail polish, except instead of using your regular old nail polish we will be using a uv curing nail gel to shape and protect your nails.  If the natural nail is not long enough to achieve the desired shape, then you will have to use tips to apply the uv gel nails.

The Easy Way To Do Uv Gel Nails

First, as always, you want to care for the nails, soak trim and treat, then if applying tips, you want to apply the tips and a primer or gel base coat.  Next you will want to let the nail cure in your uv light for about 30 seconds, and then come back with a bit more gel to apply to the nail.  you want to make sure to keep the uv gel off of the skin and only on the nail and the nail tip while creating your chosen nail form.  Once you have finished with the first layer you want to make sure it isn’t too thick and cure it for about 3 minutes.  You want to apply 2 more coats to your nails curing for 3 minutes in between.  Make sure to keep the coats relatively thin and be sure to use a clean brush between applications.  Wiping the brush on a wet towel is great for this.

With your 2nd coat, you want to make sure to add any arches or structure to the nail that would be ideal, and with the 3rd coat of uv gel, you want to make sure to smooth between any ridges you may have created and leave the nail completely smooth on top.

Now you want to cleanse the nails, with whatever nail and gel cleanser came with your uv gel nail kit.  make sure to use a clean swab and wipe away from the finger so as not to deposit any of the uncured sticky gel layers onto the clients skin.

Finally its time to shape the uv gel nails as needed and do your finishing work, once the nail is shaped and buffed smooth you can apply a polish or a gloss coat… and …. Viola!

Now wasn’t that easy?  ;)    Now make sure to put in a few hours of nail training and check to see if you can find a gel nail course near your so that you can really get the benefits of the advanced skills you will learn in those nail courses.

Till Next Time…
