Set Your Study Time

We have said it before, and we will say it again, but you need to make sure that you set a certain amount of time aside for yourself to study every day.  this will help to keep your stress levels low as well as make it easy for you to retain all the information on nail anatomy, safety procedures, nail equipment use etc. and build upon your knowledge.  Time and time again through history it is shown that the most successful people are people who commit to completing a small amount every day for their larger goal.  Jerry Seinfeld had a huge calendar that he would use to make sure he wrote comedy every day.  He would cross off the day with a big red X and all the days would eventually chain together.

Use Flashcards

You can buy a set of flashcards or you can make your own, but make sure you get some flashcards for your nail technician course.  Using flashcards is a very powerful and effective way to memorize any subject, so why not use it for your parts of the nail, or for your acrylic application procedures?  For some of your more demanding nail technician courses you will definitely want to have a set of your own flashcards as well as a set that goes along with a study guide.

Read Multiple Sources

If you get a chance to get a nail tech magazine or an extra text book or study guide its really a great way to absorb more of the same information.  rereading the same words over and over can do something for you, but i believe its much more effective if you read about a subject from different authors.  It forces you to compare the different perspectives and make many more connections in your brain then you otherwise would.

Use Your Nail Equipment

Having an extra nail trainer isn’t a bad idea for most.  This will give you a chance to work on a set of nails and while the nail polish on one is drying you can start again while you’re in the zone.  being able to use your nail clippers and buffers multiple times will ensure you never cut a clients nails too short.  Sometimes peoples best work comes when they don’t give themselves a chance to stop for a bit, so keep up your nail training and get your skills to be sharper then your scissors!

Find out what study habits work best for you, but make sure that you treat your nail technician courses very very seriously!  Good Studying!
